Sump Pumps
About the same time as the rain starts pouring, the calls start flooding in from clients whose basements are turning into swimming pools overnight. With a simple check of your home’s flood protection sump pump you can prevent flooding. Here’s how:
- 1. Find the black plastic circular cover for your sump pump. It’s usually near your furnace room, or somewhere along an outside wall
- 2. Remove the plastic cover and do a quick visual inspection
- 3. Drop a garden hose into the barrel and fill it up. When the water level rises high enough, you should hear a click and then watch the water level drop very quickly as the pump ejects the water out of your home. And with those few steps, you have peace of mind.
If you can’t find the pump, or the pump doesn’t come on you may need to call us to see about getting things up and running.
As an additional peace of mind feature, you can also have us install a flood sensing alarm system that triggers a loud siren if ever that water level rises above normal. This will give you an audio alert well before the water starts to rise above floor level. Call us at 403-327-9349 or click for more information on that www.myservicecompany.ca.
